Nowadays everybody talks about “self-care” as this popular buzzword. You know, “self-care Sundays” are for pampering yourself and getting your nails done and your hair styled and that’s considered taking care of yourself.
But true self-care is the bold act of loving yourself and telling yourself that you are worthy.
The other day, I hosted a virtual retreat and got to come together with an amazing group of people who boldly claimed their worthiness in a big way- by making the space and time to focus on bringing their big visions into reality.
We spent the day getting Fiercely Aligned, deeply embodied our dreams and desires, and talked about the practical steps to create the most direct path to making them real. Because we are all worthy of receiving for all of the magic we bring to this world.
That’s the self-care we really need to talk about.
Self-care is really a revolution and the boldest self-care that you can ever practice is knowing that you are worthy.
I’m not here to play small. I firmly believe that when we- the badass holistic professionals of this world- fully own our worthiness, let our desires lead, and boldly share our gifts, we make the world a better place.
BodyMind Coach, Heidi Metro, says it so poetically: “As you revere yourself, not only do you invite others to revere you as well, but you set an example for them to have reverence for themselves.”
True self-care is the bold act of loving and delighting in yourself, in every detail, of being bold enough to hold true to your boundaries, of doing the things that light you up and releasing the things that are burdening you from achieving your highest good.
Heidi did just that and here’s what she has to share about her experience working with me:
“Before working with Laura, I felt like I had to blow up my practice. I was so busy with no way out in sight. My journey began with changing my hours to make room for the coaching calls (which meant giving up massage time slots). Soon thereafter I was able to shift from focusing on what I was giving up to focusing instead on what I was getting. I basically had to choose the option that felt the least bad. It felt bad to give up guaranteed income, BUT it felt less bad to go for something new.
Here’s what I know to be true- life doesn’t have any guarantees. I think what I really had to give up was certainty. I exchanged certainty for curiosity about what could be. I had to grow into what could be. Now I realize, it wasn’t about giving up at all- it was about finding more of myself. I had to release what I thought it should look like to make room for a possibility that I really hadn’t considered before.”
Heidi went from a burned out massage therapist to having a 6+ figure coaching practice with regular $20K+ months, that allows her to work from home and let her values lead her life.
